Foradori Sgarzon<\/a> is a teroldego from a cooler climate, which gives it a special freshness. The 8 month maceration in Spanish amphoras (tinajas) brings incredible complexity to the wine. Blackcurrants, blackberries, blueberries, wild strawberries are complemented by tertiary aromas of dark chocolate, tobacco, liquorice… The acidity is pronounced but well integrated and the tannins are soft. There are some earthy notes. The aftertaste is incredibly complex and long.<\/p>\n

Teroldego is an indigenous variety found in the Trentino\/Alto Adige area (South Tyrol). Elisabetta Foradori has dedicated her work to this variety and is known by some as the Queen of Teroldega.<\/p>\n

Expression of terroir<\/h5>\n

By combining the grapes of the Teroldego variety from different parcels, Elisabetta Foradori wanted to give the variety three expressions of vineyard and terroir:<\/p>\n

– Vineyards created by mass selection and reconstruction of different genetic variability, located in different sites of Campo Rotaliano (Foradori wine)<\/p>\n

– The oldest vines, three old pergola vineyards with an average age of 70 years (Granato wine)<\/p>\n

– Young vines producing bright red wine (Lez\u00e8r)<\/p>\n

Identity of individual vineyards<\/h5>\n

The use of biodynamic preparations has balanced and enhanced the vineyards’ ability to express their full character. Thus, since the 2009 harvest, the estate has again begun to fill Teroldego Morei and Teroldego Sgarzon, two vineyards with different characters.<\/p>\n

Then there’s the Fontanasanta plot, located in the hills above Trent. In this place full of waterways and biodiversity, Nosiola and Manzoni Bianco thrive on clay-limestone soils.<\/p>\n

The Fuoripista Pinot Gris represents the character of the vineyard leys near the Noce River on the southern edge of Campo Rotaliano: the gravel, which is derived mainly from dolomitic rocks, gives this wine its archetypal structure.<\/p>\n

Estate<\/h5>\n

Today, the Foradori estate is run by the fourth generation of vine growers\/winemakers. The work of Elisabetta Foradori and Rainer Zierock has led to the preservation and regeneration of the Teroldego variety through their breeding of the original genetic family of the grape. Today, their children Emilio, Theo and Myrtha Zierock follow in their footsteps and run the estate with the same philosophy. Emilio manages the grape and wine production, while Theo oversees the winery’s operations. Myrtha is in charge of Foradori’s agriculture and gradual expansion. Together, the three of them keep the estate running smoothly, with the constant support of their mother Elisabetta. Although Rainer sadly passed away in February 2009, his influence remains fundamental and his ideas continue to guide the development of the winery today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
